About the speaker: 

James has been involved in dental technology since the year 2000 and has worked with many of the industry greats, including Ed Mclaren, Michel Magne, and Don Cornell. James earned his credentials as a Certified Master Ceramist in 2012, and shortly after that, he took on the lead as  Dental Laboratory Director for the Master Ceramist Program at UCLA in collaboration with Dr. Ed  Mclaren teaching refractory veneer techniques to all ceramic lab work process starting from the diagnostics. The Master Ceramist Program produced 9 to 11 Master Ceramists per year. 


James has also been involved as one of the leading developers for the revolutionary Miyo liquid ceramic system, which he utilizes in his privately owned boutique dental laboratory in IL USA.  As of 2022, James is officially the first Matisse instructor in the US. James' influence and innovation further drive his role as an international educator, a thought leader, and a key opinion leader.

Miyo Liquid Ceramic (basic to advanced) 

Matisse - Control by Numbers (basic to advanced)


Program: (Chicago, IL / October 7th-8th /23)

Day 1 

9:00 am-11:00 am Lecture: 

Theory: Forms, Shapes, and Angles 

  • Introduction to Alpha, Delta, and Line Angles 

  • Mesial Zenith and the philosophy behind it 

  • Detailed understanding of form, shape, and angles 

  • Being able to create a necessary illusion in the anterior region

  • Understanding the details of a canine (which makes it look like a canine) 

  • Controlling form and texture with electric waxer (without carver) 

11:00 am-11:15 am Coffee Break 


11:15 am-12:15 pm Gray Wax Demo 6-11 Anterior  


12:15 pm- 1:15 pm Lunch 


1:15 pm- 5:00 pm Gray Wax Demo and hands-on practice  25-27 Anterior


Day 2 


9:00 am- 12:15 pm Hands-on Demo Color Wax 6-11 Anterior 


12:15 pm- 1:15 pm Lunch

1:15 pm -4:00 pm Hands-on


**All participants are expected to finish Gray and Color Wax-up by the end of the second day.**

Material/Equipment Needed: 

  • Your favorite wax carver 

  • Number 11 scalpel 

  • Electric Waxer 

  • Wax Separator


We will be providing the GEO Expert A.Bruguera Set Color Wax during training.

In addition, everyone needs to bring a USB to transfer PDF files of the presentation.
